New Age of Power Electronics: Proton-Electrotex at TRAVEK Conference
On November 8-9th association TRAVEK held the XXIVI International Scientific, Technical and Practical Conference “Prospects of Development of Electric Power Industry and the High-voltage Electrotechnical Equipment. Switching Devices, Converting Technics, Microprocessor Control and Protection Systems" in Moscow.
More than 30 experts from the industry of energy and electrical equipment presented their reports. They introduced promising projects and findings in efficient energy control and transmission, the topics especially important in our age of smart power grids, energy saving technologies and environmental protection.
The participants also reviewed the issue of alternative energy resources. Experts expect that by 2040 around 26% of power will be generated by wind and solar farms, making around 2900 thousands MW. Usage of fossil and nuclear fuel will drop from 69 to 54%, indicating significant changes in power grids and the need for new approaches to energy systems.
Proton-Electrotex was traditionally represented by the head of Scientific and Technical Center Alexey Surma with his report “Power Semiconductors for High Voltage Equipment in Electrical Power Systems Offered by Proton-Electrotex, JSC”. Mr. Surma introduced primary requirements to high-voltage equipment, a specialized series of thyristors optimized by Proton-Electrotex for high-voltage serial assemblies, optional self-protection elements and offer of high-voltage IGBTs for serial assemblies.
